I have been in the legal field for over a decade now. I graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) in 2003 in England, and admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in 2009.
Before being admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor, I was already working in the legal field as a paralegal. It was a tough journey but here I am today, motivated in helping folks (all ages and education levels, shapes and sizes) in dire need of resolution of their legal woes.
Through my entire career in the legal field, I have been exposed to various areas of law – corporate, general litigation, shipping, intellectual property, conveyancing. After experiencing the different challenges each area posed, I realised I am most passionate in matters that allow me to help folks on a level higher than that of simply between a lawyer and her client. Connecting with folks emotionally, entering their world to somewhat help make positive changes therein are what move me.
Being involved in matrimonial matters, especially so, does exactly that. This area has widened my skills in handling sensitive, emotional issues as well as clients. I understand completely how draining and stressful it is going through a divorce. Most of my clients are first-time divorce applicants and have little or no idea what to expect, how to proceed and what to do to begin with.
I believe it takes the right personality and attitude to be able to handle clients with such deep set emotions and stress. I believe passion, empathy, compassion and attentive listening ears, are key to helping clients go through what could be their most difficult period in their lives. Bonding with clients, regarding them as friends, showing genuine concern, making them comfortable, come naturally to me.
Folks that I meet and help range from the 20s to 60s, both men and women. Contrary to the common perception that female matrimonial lawyers side with female divorce applicants, rest assured that I have no prejudice whatsoever against either gender.
I invite you to come have a chat with me about your situation. Let’s figure out and brainstorm the best way to resolve your issues.
Now, for the fun stuffs – during my free time, I absolutely love building model kits. Heard of Bandai (Gundams) or Tamiya? No, they are not just for boys. Building these kits give me immeasurable satisfaction. They bring me joy, peace, sense of accomplishment and completion. They cultivate patience and motivation to complete the build. The journey towards completing the kit is tough but the reward is invaluable, which is exactly how I feel about handling a case from the beginning to successful closure, bringing much liberation and joy to my clients. Interested in seeing some of my completed builds? They are waiting here eager to showcase their glorifying poses.
Aside from playing with toys, I enjoy cooking and baking (my family being the unfortunate guinea pigs – looks are deceiving, don’t you think?) Culinary is one of my ways of showing love to my family and friends. They bring me much satisfaction and put a smile to my face when shared with and enjoyed by love ones. Sometimes the simplest dish brings the most joy to the table.
